April 2015 was spent in Sydney at 2DayFM/Triple M – the city’s most popular radio stations.
Soon after completing the internship, I took up an ongoing role as the digital producer in on of SCA’s regional radio stations. Within six months of employment, I had managed to pick up a nomination for an Australian Commercial Radio Award (ACRA) in 2017.

Whilst scrolling through my Twitter feed one morning, I came across what I thought at the time was a fairly inconsequential tweet from a reverend in rural Australia, saying something about bogans.
I followed the tweet and found the plans to construct Australia’s biggest bogan. I wrote up the story, stuck it on the Triple M page, and watched as news sites across the country picked up the story!
Merrick Watts, who was then the drive-time announcer on Triple M, featured the story on-air that afternoon, which gave it even greater notoriety across the nation.
That is the story of my first viral idea!
