During my internship year (2015), I bounced around different radio stations in the Southern Cross Austereo network.
In April 2015, I spent a week at 2DayFM/Triple M – Sydney’s most popular radio stations.
Hitting the ‘media scrum’ in front of Downing Centre for voice grabs from Patrick Lyttle.

Whilst scrolling through my Twitter feed one morning, I came across what I thought at the time was a fairly inconsequential tweet from a reverend in rural Australia, saying something about bogans.
I followed the tweet and found the plans to construct Australia’s biggest bogan. I wrote up the story, stuck it on the Triple J page, and watched as news sites across the country picked up the story!
Merrick Watts ended up featuring the story on-air that afternoon, which gave it even greater notoriety across the nation.
And that is the story of my first viral idea!
