The Accidental Memoir

A 5,000-word thesis on the place of literary long-form journalism in the modern media lanscape.

Written in 2015 under the supervision of Dr. Fiona Giles, to complete the University of Sydney Bachelor of Arts (Media & Communications) degree in 2015.

The project interrogates the boundaries between fact and fiction when an author decides to write their own story into a fictional narrative landscape.

In order to streamline discussion, case studies were confined to Kathryn Stockett’s The Help and Helen Garner’s The Spare Room.

ACMA versus Australia

The second capstone to the University of Sydney degree was a 4,500-word research project on ethics in the media.

This project probes into the relationship between the Australian Communications Media Association (the ACMA) and 2DayFM following the 2012 Royal Baby Scandal.

Due to the sensitivity of the subject, this project will not be published online but can be viewed upon request.
